Led by the İslahiye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and brought to life through the initiatives of Gaziantep University students, the "Tilmen Sustainability Student Society" officially commenced its activities as of April 17, 2026. The society aims to bridge the region's millennia-old historical heritage with the academic energy of the campus. Established under the university’s Directorate of Culture and Sports and named after the region's historical wealth, the Tilmen Sustainability Student Society has set out with a dynamic and innovative vision. The society's core objectives include preserving cultural heritage, taking steps to strengthen social equality of opportunity, and executing projects that will successfully represent the name "Tilmen" on the global sustainability agenda.

First Meeting and Founding Presidential Election Held

Prior to the official establishment, a preparatory meeting was held on April 15, 2026, at the İslahiye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Taner Akçacı, and the Society’s Academic Advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. R. Funda Karadeniz, also attended the meeting to show their support for the students. In the first presidential election held during the meeting, İsa Tamer Çolak and Mehmet Cengiz Öz competed. Following a democratic process, İsa Tamer Çolak, who received the majority of the founding members' support, was elected as the Founding President of the Tilmen Sustainability Student Society.

Acting with a sense of responsibility, the society's management announced that they will organize large-scale events, workshops, and social responsibility projects involving university students in the coming period. Aiming to contribute to both academic development and regional growth, the society welcomes new members and all students who wish to support the vision of sustainability.
